Reckoning of the Gods: Heretic - Prologue
Author’s Note: Please enjoy the prologue from Reckoning of the Gods: Heretic, a fantasy/mythology series that I have been writing for well over a decade.
This is a first draft, so please excuse any grammar or spelling mistakes.
There are few alive who remember the War of the Gods, and fewer still who witnessed it. I was there when the Nameless God rebelled, and I was there when he met his punishment. I was there when his people were driven from their lands, and I was there when they found a new hope. For I am Zu, and I see all, and I know all.
In those days, the gods would walk among the mortals and delight in their presence. The world spoke one tongue, and the Song of Creation could still be heard. For a time, there was peace, and death was a distant thought in most minds. Sickness, famine, and drought had not yet entered the world, and there was plenty for all.
Such was the way of things.
But the gods could not see their own undoing, even as it unfolded before them. Some looked to the stars for answers, while others looked to worlds beyond our own. But I could see that the answer lay in three parts. For I am Zu, and I see all, and I know all.
